of mice and men
of mice and men is about how a man has chosen to become friends with a mentally disabled guy named lenny…..this film shows that in those days all workers had the American dream of kicking back in a farm.In the 1st scene it introduces liny and George getting chased out of their town. The reason for this is Lenny doesn’t understand that girls like their personal space and Lenny thought that touching her dress is fine but in the girls eyes that is sexual harassment. Lenny and George then decide to go to a different town and change their scene by working at a barn house. The boss isn’t convinced that Lenny is capable to work there, but George convinces him. George and Lenny get shown to their bunks and they begin to work. That night they get introduced to all the crew and the boss’s son Curley who then picks on Lenny by saying hurtful things but George tells Lenny to ignore him.The next morning they are getting ready when Curleys wife comes in, she’s stunning with her black hair and flowing sun dress….Lenny says to George that she is beautiful but as George knows he says to stay away from her. Lenny has a fetish for patting things till they die and that’s why George doesn’t want Lenny near the girl. After a few days Lenny wants a puppy so George organises with one of the guys to give Lenny a puppy from their litter but Lenny is suppose to keep it in the barn.knowing lenny he kept sneaking the puppy in. later in the film curly comes into the barn after his wife gave lenny and George $950 towards their dream and starts to beat up lenny, when George tells him(lenny) to “get him” lenny take gorges advice and grabs curleys hand and crunches it till it breaks and bleeds.later on George and the other guys are out playing horse shoes while lenny’s in the barn playing with the puppy when lenny starts to pat it…with lenny not knowing how string he is he accidentally kills the puppy and freaks out, when curleys wife comes into the barn and asks why he did that lenny reply’s with “I like to pat soft things” curleys wife thinking it would be ok asked lenny to pat her hair but when she asked to stop lenny didn’t as he doesn’t understand. When Curleys wife starts to scream Lenny freaks out and breaks her neck killing her instantly. He realises what he has done and runs away in fear to where Lenny told him to go if he’s ever in trouble.later candy a man who works there that only has one hand comes to look for lenny but then see’s curleys wife laying there , thinking she’s just sleeping he goes over to her and says “miss this isn’t a place to have a nap” she doesn’t reply then candy realises….he runs out of the barn and gets George. The both of them come in and know straight away who did it. George realise he’ll get the blame so he walks out of the barn telling candy to get everyone else and bring everyone into the barn and he’ll walk in later. candy does what George says and everyone comes in including curly, asking who did it they then all realised the lenny’s hat on the ground…at that moment curly looks at the hat then turns to everyone and says” let’s get this son of a bitch, where’s my riffle”. George being caring wanted to find Lenny first. He tells candy his plan and runs down the bank to find Lenny; gorge knows exactly where he is and finds him. Lenny is excited to see gorge and makes gorge tell him the story of their dream. George begins, Lenny says over and over again with excitement “and George I’m going to tend the rabbits” and at that moment gorge garbs his hand gun and shoots Lenny in the back of the head. You might think this action was cruel but gorge didn’t want curly doing this, he wanted to do it himself as he knew if they ran away it was bound to happen again.I think this film is mostly about finding out who’s the monster in this story?? Is it curly in the way he treats everyone like dirt or is it Lenny the one who doesn’t understand what killing is?? This film is harsh but good in a way of showing the truth that there are many monsters in the world, but it just counts on who you believe.
